Welcome to the Wezenberg Research Group

The research in our group is primarily directed towards the development of stimuli-responsive molecular receptors as well as self-assembling materials and the application of these to study and manipulate biological systems. To this purpose, a highly interdisciplinary approach is taken, which combines advanced synthetic chemistry, coordination chemistry, photochemistry and supramolecular chemistry.

A major part of our research program involves the photodynamic control of anion binding and transmembrane transport and is aimed at finding new diagnostic tools and therapeutic agents to improve human health. We are also interested in creating information-rich building blocks that self-assemble into nanostructured materials with switchable function. Please visit the research page for more information.
